Description
Threadcakes always falls right around my birthday, so I made this as a belated 24th birthday cake for myself! It was easy to choose a Threadless design, as I love knitting and cute fuzzy animals.
I couldn't decide between Devil's Food cake or Funfetti--so I went with a layer of each. The cake is covered with fondant, which I dyed green with gel food coloring. I drew out the design on parchment paper first and used it as a template to cut the bears, trees, sky, and yarn out of fondant. I then used a combination of vodka(!) and gel food coloring to paint in some of the finishing details.
All in all, the cake was as delicious as it was cute!
