Description
I’ve recently developed an obsession with decorating cakes/cupcakes and seize every birthday and holiday to ice me some baked goods, though I rarely get to make a cake featuring Mr Death. This design immediately struck me as morbidly cute, though I do wish the boy well.
I made my own raspberry-flavored fondant for this cake, since the stuff that’s been sitting on the shelves scares me a little, and so I could replace the gelatin to make it more vegetarian-friendly (check out the Telephone brand agar agar). The cake is a Madeira sponge cake made from scratch, chosen for its firm consistency. All supports are edible (chocolate covered biscuit sticks). Viewed from the side, the cake is in the shape of a question mark. Yay.
