Description
I’m Aubrey and I am from Baltimore, MD! Inspired by the amazing artists who participate with threadless and the talented cake creators at Charm City Cakes I have been practicing and working on cakes all month in preparation for my final product for threadcakes, studying every book and cake show out there. And it turns out that it is not as easy as Chef Duff and Mary Alice make it out to be! Seeing my cake finished along with 500+ other spectacular creations I know I will be make tons of crazy cake creations in the future! For how pretty this cake wound up it was a monster; 5 batches of yellow cake, 3.5 batches of butter cream icing, 4 batches of home-made fondant, and a box of rice crispy treats! I started the cake on the 28th hoping to finish by the 30th, but with working a full-time job and being an art student at GMU I didn’t see my cake complete until this afternoon (after 5 hours of painting). The cake took a lot longer than I planned and was a headache at times but I learned a lot along the way (like how you should defiantly plan you’re cakes structural support before you start building and that long rolling pins are a must when using fondant – I had to resort to a wiffle ball bat to transfer the fondant on the cake). So, here it is my final threadcake, Catastrophe! Enjoy I know I did!
