Homework Evidence cake by Melia Stuppy

Description

On August 3 at approximately 4PM, I discovered the ThreadCakes contest. I checked my watch, realizing that if I wanted to enter this, I should have thought about it a few weeks ago. For some reason, I felt destined to enter the contest, despite the fact that I had limited time in which to design and build a cake. I fell in love with the "Homework Evidence" shirt, and decided to make my cake based off of that piece. I started with a sheet cake and cut it out as closely to the shape of the original photo as I could manage. I used fondant to cover the cake and to make the various 'homework pieces' found in the dog's belly. As for the lines of the bones and x-rays, I used a thin line of pale blue frosting. All in all, it took me about 4 hours, but this included a ten minute dinner break, fifteen minute phone call, twenty minutes of mindless slacking, and photography, which became difficult after my friends (the photographers) had to leave. It was delicious. The end.
