The Apple Shaving Accident

On August 3 at approximately 4PM, I discovered the ThreadCakes contest. I checked my watch, realizing that if I wanted to enter this, I should have thought about it a few weeks ago. For some reason, I felt destined to enter the contest, despite the fact that I had limited time in which to design and build a cake. I really liked the "Apple Shaving Accident" shirt, and decided to make my cake based off of that piece. I used fondant to cover the cake and to add detail work. I purposely layered fondant to make the apple really look like it was peeling. I added "stubble" by pressing black sprinkles into the fondant prior to putting it on the cake. It took a total of 2 hours. And it tasted great!
