Hello again! This is Elizabth and Nicole, with our second entry this year - our first 3D cake! We chose this design because it was sweet and simple, a perfect first adventure into cake sculpture territory. The subtle expressions on these guys' faces are so much fun! And chocolate fur? You can't get more amazing than that.
With one less helping hand than before, and recurring supply-buying amnesia, this project took us the better part of two days. We carved the forms of the two Fuzzy Wuzzies from a stack three 8-inch round cakes layered with buttercream icing. The true Fuzzy got a thick coat of chocolate icing, tousled up to look nice and fluffy, and the Imposter got covered in a layer of white marshmallow fondant with brown fondant spots and a fluffy chocolate mask. We then made the little facial features and arms out of more white fondant, and arranged them. We got creative with their facial expressions when it got to be time to cut them up!
If cakes could speak, we think their final moments may have sounded something like this:
IMPOSTER: Hey. 'Sup.
FUZZY: Dude. What?
IMPOSTER: Oh nothing, I was just wondering, what are you doing later?
FUZZY: Don't stand so close to me.
IMPOSTER: Relax, man, we're just chil- Hey ... what's that?
FUZZY: What?
IMPOSTER: It's like, a big shiny thing. Behind you.
FUZZY: Like, right behind me?
IMPOSTER: Yeah!
FUZZY: What the heaaAAAAHHHHH!!!
IMPOSTER: Aw man! Do you have a slice out of you?
FUZZY: YES, YES I DO AHHH CRIMINEY!
IMPOSTER: Not ... cool ...
