Being Green Muppets DTG cake by Shalee Thompson

Description

To start the Kermit cake I made a pistachio cake in two rounds. Then I made rice krispie treats for his head and pressed those into a bowl to shape them and let them harden. I made a batch of honey vanilla buttercream for the icing. I stacked and shaped everything and then covered it with a base sheet of fondant. The previous day I had made my first ever batch of modeling chocolate. The feet and head were formed with modeling chocolate. During this time I began working on the smaller “fly” figures. Then his back was covered with white fondant to bring everything together. After this the whole cake was textured and sprayed with green food coloring. I used a brush to add more texture to the food coloring. The pond was formed using royal icing. His eyes were made from fondant as well as his ruffled collar, the lily pads and the flowers. The figures were added to the lily pads and around his body using supports. Overall this was a fun cake to make and a new experience for most of the people who tried pistachio cake for the first time.
