Breakfast in Bed

There were so many cool designs that I wanted to do this year, but even with the delay in the competition I still ran out of time to do all of the things I wanted to do this year. I'm lucky that I got this one done! I really liked this one because it reminded me of the Toast cake that I entered in 2011. I also happened to buy a cake mold in the shape of bread this year and really wanted to use it. From start to finish this cake took me about a day. I made a sugar free vegan vanilla cake and almond frosting and covered it in fondant. It may not sound like the most delicious, but it was really pretty good!! The little sausage guys were made from peanut butter rice crispies, covered with frosting and then fondant. Those were yummy!! The most challenging part was how to get the floating speech bubble. I made a wire stand and attached it with some white chocolate, which ended up working perfectly! I look forward to this contest every year and I'm really happy with how this entry turned out, as always it was a lot of fun to do and to eat!
