Bunnies cake by Trisha Powers

Description

This was a fun design to create in cake! The idea of rabbits giving each other bunny ears is hilarious! The whole process took a day to make, with the frosting making, and the cooling times.
I started with a 15x11 chocolate cake. I stacked two squares of chocolate cake on top of each other, then carved a hill of chocolate cake. then I carved an oval from another section of cake.
I gave the carved cakes a coat of butter cream frosting. Frosting the oval head was difficult. The head needs to be oval, but it also needs to have a way to attach to the hill body. Also, the design has to match the tee shirt design.
After the butter cream coat, the hill bodies and oval heads got a coat of modeling chocolate. Then I put the heads on top of the bodies. Once the body and head were together, I carved out a belly spot to fill in with white modeling clay. I was happy that the white belly worked well with this design!
I made arms for the bunnies. The outside arms are hanging from the side, and the other arm is crossing over behind their head and giving the "bunny ear" sign to the other bunny. I think this was my favorite part of the creation, because I still think it is so funny! I also made the rabbit's feet from the modeling clay.
I invited some friends over to share the bunnies with! Though this design was not as difficult as others, it was very fun to create for the funny factor!
